Jona Caparas, MSN, RN, VA-BC is a Nurse Clinician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with over 30 years of nursing experience, specializing in infusion and vascular access therapy across radiology, oncology/BMT, orthopedics, and pediatrics. She is actively involved in Shared Governance and serves on the hospital’s Safety and Quality Committees. A dedicated educator, Jona provides training on PICC/midline insertions, ultrasound-guided PIVs, and vascular access device care and maintenance. She pioneered the first Rapid Response Team in a long-term care facility and has held leadership roles in several professional organizations. Jona is the co-founder and current President of the Association for Vascular Access New York Metro Network (AVANY), served on the Board of the Philippine Nurses Association of NY (2014–2024), and was elected Director at Large for the 2026 AVA Board. Her published research has influenced midline catheter innovation and helped reduce central line use in hospitals nationwide
