Dr. Ryder is currently an independent collaborative researcher and consultant in medical biofilm related infections and a Partner/Consultant to the Center for Biofilm Engineering, Montana State University. Her research includes in vitro, in vivo, and clinical investigations. She is also a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the use and management of vascular access devices. She has been an invited speaker to state, national, and international conferences and has authored numerous publications.
Dr. Ryder has served as President of AVA, Chair of APIC’s Scientific Research Council, President of the AVA Foundation for Patient Safety, and was the recipient of the AVA 2017 Suzanne Herbst Award. Dr. Ryder is currently the President of the Vascular Access Patient Safety Alliance (VAPSA), a distinguished fellow of the National Academies of Practice, a National Quality Forum Hospital-Onset Bacteremia and Fungemia Technical Expert Panelist, and member of the 2027 INS Standards of Practice Committee Member.
