Vascular Access Team
Carilion Clinic, Virginia
I started my healthcare career as an EMT and outdoor recreation major. I became a Paramedic and worked for about 12 years in a busy urban and also rural settings. I became a nurse and worked at Duke medical Center in Durham NC in the ED for 6 years. After that I worked for 12 years at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, I spent time in the ED, CTICU, Rapid Response team and ultimately the Vascular access team. Professionally I am focused on education and best practice for vascular access. I provide education to all the units and work to keep the vascular access team updated with the latest information and practices. Vascular access has been a long undervalued resource and I look forward to working towards its wide spread acceptance as an important valuable resource.
