Maria Plummer is an experienced oncology nurse and holds national certifications from the Canadian Vascular Access Association (CVAA) and the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO). Her career spans both pediatric and adult oncology settings, where she has developed expertise in vascular access and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
Throughout her years at the bedside, Maria repeatedly encountered the challenge of loosening tight IV line connections—a task that often proved difficult for clinicians and distressing for patients. Recognizing this as a widespread problem affecting safety, efficiency, and patient comfort, she set out to find a better solution. Her determination led her to develop an innovative tool specifically designed to safely and efficiently disconnect tight IV connections, reducing strain on clinicians and alleviating anxiety for patients.
The tool addresses a common yet often overlooked aspect of vascular access care, and exemplifies her broader dedication to improving everyday practice.
