Lieve Goossens began her career in vascular access in the early 2000s, co-founding the Vascular Access Specialist Team (VAST) at the University Hospitals in Leuven, Belgium. She completed her doctoral research on functional complications in implantable venous access devices in 2011 and has made significant contributions to the field as a co-founder of the Belgian Vascular Access Network and through various scientific publications. In 2016, she co-founded the Belgian Association of Advanced Practice Nurses and served as its first president. Additionally, she was an assistant professor in the Master’s program in nursing education at Ghent University from 2021 to 2022. Since 2023, she has rejoined VAST at the University Hospitals in Leuven, where she focuses on troubleshooting CVAD-related complications and conducting research, while holding a fellowship at KU Leuven.
