Katie has been working as an oncology nurse since graduating with a BSN from Northeastern University in 1997. She began her career at Boston Children’s hospital inpatient oncology unit and then transitioned to the Jimmy Fund Clinic the outpatient pediatric clinic at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston. During that time, she cared for children with complex hematology and oncology diagnoses. Two years ago, she followed her passion and started as a Venous Access Nurse caring for adult patients at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Chestnut Hill. She is a compassionate nurse highly skilled in the use of central venous catheters, ports and the placement of peripheral intravenous catheters in a challenging patient population. She provides education to patients and families and is active in the orienting of new staff on the unit.
