Dr. Alina Burek is an Associate Professor and Pediatric Hospitalist at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She is also the co-chair of the Hospital Acquired Conditions Venous Thromboembolism Committee. As a pediatric hospitalist, she became interested in clinical research related to pediatric inpatient care. Her research focuses on reducing patient harm, lowering medical costs, and improving healthcare quality by rethinking the way we deliver vascular access care to millions of hospitalized children nationwide. Over the past 5 years she successfully led and brought to completion multiple research projects and developed collaborative relationships with other researchers around the country. Additionally, she is the recipient of two research grants – the Children’s Wisconsin Improving Health in Kids Grant 2021 and the Children’s Research Institute Innovative Pilot Grant 2022.
