Dressing adherence is a cornerstone of vascular access care, yet confusion persists about medical liquid adhesives and their role in securement. This session will demystify the terminology and present best-practice evidence for keeping dressings secure while minimizing infection risk. Clear distinctions will be made between medical liquid adhesives: tissue adhesives and gum mastic liquid adhesives. Attendees will gain insight into how gum mastic liquid adhesives can reduce dressing lift, extend dressing wear time, and improve protocol adherence. Drawing on current research and real-world application, this talk highlights strategies to reduce complications, strengthen patient safety, and ensure dressings stay intact – and infection stays out.
