The presentation “Destination Magnet, the impact of the PIV standards within a pediatric facility” will demonstrate the journey of how I incorporated the domains of the Standards of Care for Peripheral Intravenous Catheters: Evidence-Based Expert Consensus within St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. I will discuss the process of the gaps identified in our practice, and how I collaborated with the key stakeholders to create a change within my organization. This includes aligning the PIVC standards with our policies and procedures within our facility. I will highlight the positive outcomes and data attributed to a full-service vascular access team specifically with the use of ultrasound guided PIV insertions. This correlates with multiple domains of the Standards of Care, specifically #7, “Maximize First Insertion Success”. Lastly, I will discuss the outcome of executing a high-level quality improvement project within my organization that ultimately lead to being discussed with our application for Pathways to Execellence/ Magnet recognition at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
